Jim grew up in Eastern Oregon on a cattle ranch. He and his wife enjoy most outdoor activities such as boating, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, skiing, rafting, and shooting sports. Jim is also licensed as a commercial pilot with instrument rating and flight instructor. Jim started his surveying career in 1976 after graduating from Oregon Tech. Jim took a leave from surveying, and owned his own log trucking company for 17 years before returning to surveying. His surveying career has taken him to Oregon, Colorado and Washington.
As Project Manager, Jim is responsible for ensuring that projects are on time and meet the requirements of the client. Jim is licensed in Washington and Montana, and an active member of the Land Surveyors of Washington, being past president of the Inland Empire Chapter.
Mason is a graduate of Oregon State University and has been in the land surveying profession since 1995. He started working in land development and spent the first eight years of his career working with the planning and layout of residential subdivisions, industrial parks, and commercial buildings. In 2003, Mason left private industry to teach geomatics at the Oregon Institute of Technology. He taught courses in land development, route surveying, construction surveying, and GNSS surveying. He returned to private industry in 2021 to work with Duryea and Associates providing a range of surveying services including ALTA surveys, topographic mapping surveys, and platting.
Mason is licensed in both Washington and Oregon. He is also a Certified Water Rights Examiner in Oregon and a Certified Federal Surveyor (CFedS). He is an active member of the Professional Land Surveyors of Oregon where he served on the Board of Directors for six years and as the 2012 Chair. He is also an active member of the Land Surveyors’ Association of Washington (LSAW).
Blake grew up near Salem, Oregon, where he enjoyed many outdoor activities that the Willamette Valley had to offer including hunting, skiing, hiking, and fishing. Today, Blake still enjoys the outdoors but is now joined by his wife and three children.
Blake started his working career, spending his summers in high school working for his parent’s construction company before attending college at the Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, Oregon in 2012. There, he obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Geomatics with a Minor in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), graduating in 2016. After graduation, Blake spent two years working for a private surveying and engineering firm in the valley before accepting a job with the City of Salem. While with the City, Blake worked to obtain his PLS License in 2021 and became the Deputy City Surveyor before leaving his position at the city to join our team here at Duryea and Associates in January 2023. Since being with Duryea and Associates, Blake has gone on to obtain both Idaho and Washington PLS licenses in addition to his Oregon license and enjoys working within the collaborative team of licensed and non-licensed individuals that we have.
