Jim grew up in Eastern Oregon on a cattle ranch. He and his wife enjoy most outdoor activities such as boating, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, skiing, rafting, and shooting sports. Jim is also licensed as a commercial pilot with instrument rating and flight instructor. Jim started his surveying career in 1976 after graduating from Oregon Tech. Jim took a leave from surveying, and owned his own log trucking company for 17 years before returning to surveying. His surveying career has taken him to Oregon, Colorado and Washington.
As Project Manager, Jim is responsible for ensuring that projects are on time and meet the requirements of the client. Jim is licensed in Washington and Montana, and an active member of the Land Surveyors of Washington, being past president of the Inland Empire Chapter.
