LOMA / LOMR
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) determines flood hazards and flood insurance requirements through their Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) program. The FIRM mapping is based on large scale studies. Specific property owners find their property designated with a flood hazard. We work with land owners to provide a detailed study to determine if, in fact, the property is in a flood hazard. If not, we prepare a Letter of Map Amendment (LOMA) to remove the property from the flood hazard designation. A specialty service we focus on are mobile home communities. These projects result in the removal of multiple lots or units from their current flood hazards. These multiple unit projects require a different process than normal LOMA applications.
